Guida blu 2013

Legambiente and Touring club presented “Guida blu 2013”, the classification of the seaside resorts. The sail assigned in the “Guida blu” differs from the flags of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) international recognition based on the quality of the bathing water. Among the other criteria the purification of waste water, waste management, regulation of vehicular traffic, safety, and beach services.
The Blue Guide evaluates the natural and environmental characteristics of the Italian beaches, but also wants to reward those places which offer an excellent welcome, combining the beauty of the landscape with excellent management, accessibility and the right supporting services.

Fifteen beautiful coasts that successfully combine good tourism and environmental quality have been awarded. They are some Italian seaside resorts of Sardinia, Apulia, Tuscany, Sicily, Basilicata, Campania and Liguria, which win the 5 blue sails of the “Blue Guide” of Legambiente and Touring Club in 2013, for having been able to focus on ecotourism.

The credit is to be able to offer a dream holiday and quality, thanks to the sustainable management of an area of excellence, maintain the countryside, to the services offered in the full respect of the environment with food and wine of the highest level.
 
This year to lead the seaside resorts awarded with the 5 sails is Posada (NU), the Sardinian town is the queen of Summer 2013, followed by Santa Marina Salina (Me) and Pollica (Sa) in second and third place. Among the new entries of 2013 Vernazza (Sp) to 12th, Otranto (Le) 13th and Nardò (Le) which closes the ranking of the best places. Sardinia this year is still the region with the largest number of resorts with 4 and 5 sails (18), followed by Puglia (11) and Tuscany (9). We confirm at the top also Sicily, Liguria and Campania with 4 locations: San Vito Lo Capo (Tp), Santa Maria Salina (Me), Vernazza (Sp) and Pollica (Sa). Good even  Basilicata with Maratea (Potenza). The places awarded prove to be model examples in the field of ecotourism capable of making known the strength and beauty of the Italian territories.

A section of the “Blu guide” is dedicated to the lake resorts. Of the 75 locations indicated, six have earned the 5 sails. Leader in this case is Tuoro sul Trasimeno (PG), on the lake, which over the years has managed to combine the streams of tourists along with the protection of the landscape and environment of great natural value.  At the second place, Appiano sulla Strada del Vino (BZ) on Monticolo, followed by Fiè allo sciliar (BZ) on Lake Fie in Trentino alto Adige, Massa Marittima (GR) on Lake dell'Accesa, Molveno (TN) on the homonymous lake in Trentino and Bellagio (CO) on Lake Como.
