Is Italy a country of wastes and contradictions?
As far as ecology is concerned Italy seems to do well in terms of new inventions but not so well in terms of using them!
In 2010 Italy appeared as a nation on the forefront of sustainable mobility presenting, at the Industrial Fair of Hanover, the first totally electric scooter designed for delivery.
Since then the Electric scooter Oxygen has become quite popular abroad while it’s almost unknown and unutilised in Italy!

In 2011 4,000 Italian couples went abroad to ask for medical assistance to have a child. This is what emerged from the fourth survey of the observatory of the so-called procreative tourism.
Out of the 4,000 couples, more than 2,000 went abroad to receive heterologus fertilization (implantation of sperm or ovule coming from a donator). The other 2,000 decided to go abroad despite of the fact that they could have the same treatment in Italy, while 32 have been the requests for surrogacy abroad.

Even though marriage is less popular than before and an increasing number of couples prefer just to live together without any formal agreement, marriage is a very big thing in Italy.
The marriage day is usually supposed to be a luxurious experience to the extent that some families take loans in order to provide a memorable event for family and friends.
Marriage like anything else is affected by international trends. This year bright colours come back into fashion!
The new trends are quite international, but there are some local peculiarities related to a specific taste or traditional food, especially when it comes to the menu.
In Italy local products and regional specialties, usually become an integral part of the wedding reception menu.

Agnello or Capretto for Easter? This is like asking in the 70’s if you preferred the Beatles or Rolling Stones!
Italians are strongly opinionated in terms of food so there’ s no messing about when it comes to traditional festivity menus.
For the main course of the Ester menu you’ll get two different schools of thought. On one hand those who advocate for the superiority of the taste of Agnello (lamb) and on the other hand the supporters of Capretto (kid goat).

“Natale con I tuoi, pasqua con chi vuoi!” (Christmas with the family, Easter with whoever you like).

According to the survey of “Confesercenti” only 24% will go to hotels, touristic villages, camping, while the majority will visit relatives and friends or they will go to their own holiday house (22%).
Many others will try to save money with bed&breakfasts (10%), ”agriturismi” (10%) or a rented house (5%).
According to “Confesercenti”, Italians will spend 9,7 billion euro, about 500 Euro on average for a 3 days holiday. 78% of the interviewed won’t spend more than 750 euro but 8% are going to spend at least 1.500 euro.
